AIZHANA JANIE

REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPIST

A little about me: I’m a graduate from the Langara RMT Program. When I was younger, I participated in dance (mainly ballet), gymnastics and various other sports. Although the injury recovery process was often difficult and not always smooth, I always had a positive experience with massage - it played an important role in improving my tissue function and quality of life at the time, and it is what continues to allow me to participate in sports. These past experiences strengthened my conviction of the importance of individualized, patient centred physical rehabilitation and maintenance programs for everyone, no matter the physical activity level.

In treatment, I like to focus on facilitating more ease with movement and daily life activities by means of reducing pain, discomfort, and stress. I often utilize myofascial, joint mobilization, and neuromuscular techniques, although treatment plans are patient specific. I strongly believe in helping patients support themselves by providing advice on home self-care such as exercise, hydrotherapy, and small daily modifications. My ideal goals are to graduate my patients to maintenance phase where fewer and fewer treatments are needed.

My main practice interests are in women’s health, including pre-natal and post-natal periods, as well as general orthopedic injuries (both acute and chronic/repetitive).

Prior to following the human healthcare career path, I worked in animal healthcare and before that, I studied communications, toying with the idea of a career in journalism. On days off I love to spend time outdoors, whether it’s patio gardening, hiking, camping, or snowboarding. My other passions are animals, and reading, so you can always count on me to provide animal or book trivia!
